Notes from Essay : Do Things that don’t scale
The Startup News all around depict that : If your startup is not fast scaling, you are doomed. While the reality is — Startup is slow growing and sometimes seemingly slow growing growth.
Right now we are at a stage which is apt for the excellent article of Paul Graham. Pointers that might be useful for a founder ( our WIP todo’s)
- Do things that don’t scale.
- Startups Take off because Founders make them take off
- Recruit users manually. Go and get users, they are not gonna come for you.
- Make your product so easy, that setup can be done when someone says a yes.
- Start with 2 customers and grow by 10% each week
- #Airbnb, #Pinterest, #Stripe, #Wufoo and many more follow above approach
- Make Initial Customers Happy. Don’t worry of they being individuals and don’t think of scale too early
- Go for customers which need less hand-holding rather than those who pay more.
- Pick a single user and act as if they were consultants building something just for that one user.
- If you have to work hard to delight users when you only have a handful of them, you’ll keep doing it when you have a lot.
Our startup Livestorehub.com has made software so that people can talk on video chat with sales associates for:
- Products sales
- On-boarding
- Relationship management : cross selling etc…
Our startup is going through the on-boarding and Manually recruiting users phase and this essay is perfect for our company.
